Parent and family sessions
The adults raising the child get a seat too
For foster, adoptive and kinship parents, alone or as a couple, and for the whole family when the child is ready.
Parenting a child who has lived through a move, a loss or a hard start is its own work. Parent sessions are a place to say what is not working, hear what Lissette sees in the child’s visits, and plan the week ahead. Family sessions come when the child and the adults are both ready.

How it works
What it is like, in six points
Who it helps
Foster, adoptive and kinship parents and caregivers, alone or as a couple, and the whole household when the child is ready.
What sessions look like
Fifty minutes, in person or by video, often in the hours after school or in the evening.
The method
Coaching built on how children form attachments, and plain talk about what is hard.
What this is not
Not a home study, a licensing assessment or respite care, and not a report about your parenting.
Length and frequency
Lissette sets the pace with you. Many adults start every two weeks. There is no set number of sessions.
Insurance, a monthly receipt or self-pay, with a written estimate first.
Questions
Three questions about this service
Do both parents come?
Whoever is raising the child can come, together or in turns. Many families begin with one adult and add the other.
I am a relative raising a child. Is this for me?
Yes. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives raising a child are part of the families Lissette sees.
Will you work with the agency?
Only with written permission from the person who can consent, or when the law requires it. We do not write placement or custody recommendations.
